A: No, Palliative care consists of Total Care of physical, psychological, monetary, social and spiritual care for advance stage patients. That is why Palliative care is called “Active Total Care” or “High-Touch Care.”

Q: Does palliative care mean only Terminal care?

A: No, Palliative care is for quality of life to any long standing medical illness and not for only terminal illness.

Q: Is Morphine prescribed for sleep inducing medicine? Does it cause addiction?

A: Morphine is used for intolerable physical pain of cancer, and not for sleep. This indispensable medicine does not cause addiction or side effect if used in proper dose. Instead it is an excellent pain killer for severe cancer related pain.
